While you'll never sound quite like your favorite clarinetist, you want to have an idea of the sound you want.
Whether it's a style or a time period that you really enjoy, find your happy place! When you find the literature you enjoy, find artists that have performed these works. Listen to their sound. Are certain sounds attributed to certain styles of music?
The main goal after being in tune is to have a fluid sound. When you play large intervals, does one note pop out over the other? Match their volume. Are there pops or clicks in the sound between registers? What does it take to smooth those out? Practice and trying new things will tell you.
